Sadly, no fancy name yet. That will be coming! Sabrina's Enchantment My nares flared as I inhaled the salty, refreshing scent of the beach. A moment later, I heard the relaxing sound of the waves, as they lazily washed up against the sandy shore. Almost there! I thought excitedly."Ah, the beach! I can't wait. We'll have so much fun!""Hmp. But I don't want to go to the beach!"Don't be such a spoil-sport. It will be fun!""Only if you drown. Then I'll admit it would be fun" The devilish little voice chuckled."That was un-called for. But I will forgive your snide remarks""Don't bother."I rolled my eyes, and shook my head.
But a few minutes later, I broke through a clearing and saw the beach before me. I whinnied loudly, and galloped to the water's edge. I splashed in the slightly chilly water, soaking my black and white pelt. "I told you the water would be cold"The voice purred, with satisfaction, but I ignored it. I was having too much fun to pay attention to him. I waded deeper into the water, until the water covered my back, and I began swimming. After about twenty minutes, I swam to the shore, and stepped out of the water. I shook off, and chivered as a cool breeze met my wet fur. I extended my legs into a brisk trot, down the beach. My hooves left impressions in the sand. As a wave would come in, it would wash away the hoof print, and drag it into the sea.Words: 254 Muse: Good Notes: I've always wanted to try doing a char with an angel and devil

Arabella The past is left in the past, the present is now, and the future is what I live for.
I walked very, very slowly with my crania held low to the ground, soft puffs of my breath blowing the dust this way and that. My white pelt was smudged with gross smears of dirt, and lord knows what else. Don't get me wrong, I was grateful for what Xenon did...but did we always have to be so dirty? Speaking of, where did he get off to? Craning my neck around I could make out his steady onyx frame, plodding along a couple feet back. A new scent wafted to my velvety muzzle. Salt. Water. The ocean! I didn't hesitate before bolting off towards the smell, energy anew. Excitement coursed through me as dirt turned to sand beneath my daggers. Sand and water flew up all around me as I charged full force into the oceans edge with a whinny. I continued to frolick around and wash the stains from my pearly hide.
Xenon ..Don't talk to me of pain you know nothing of.... The suns rays beat down mercilessly upon my charcoal colored pelt, slowly roasting me alive. I was at the point now I was panting, my head drooped in defeat. My much lighter hued sibling meanwhile was up ahead, taking her own sweet time. The heavy chains around my ankles clinked softly as I walked, rubbing the skin raw. I hadn't noticed anything different about the air until she suddenly bolted away. Panic hit me for a moment and i looked around, expecting something to come leaping out of the brush and attack. I pushed my body into a weary trot, ever alert. Surprise and realization struck as the sand welcomed my weight. It was so different being on your own versus in a stable...no one to care for you. Or feed you. Or groom you. But so far, we were doing alright on our own. My harks caught the sound of heafbeats farther down the beach. I stopped short in a cloud of Earth. Nostrils flaring and head held high on alert I whinnied as loud as I could for Bells. I didn't know who this stranger was...I didn't want any harm to befall my sister no matter how much I constantly threatened her. Panic ate away at my mind as I remembered the horror stories of wild stallions stealing away mares against their will. I yelled out again for Bells, only for reality to sink to the pit of my stomach as I made out her white frame in the distance, playing in the water completely unaware.

Sabrina's Enchantment
"Did you hear that? I thought I heard a whinny..."
Nooo. You must be going senile. Of course I heard it!! What do you think I am, deaf?!
Why are you so irritable all the time? You don't have to snap at her, for asking a simple question. Besides, she probably wasn't addressing you anyways.
No only was is simple, it was stupid. You know what they say, ask a stupid question, get --
Never you mind what "they" say. Who is this "they" anyways?
Um....well me for one!
Wow. I'm so impressed.
You know, you really aren't any better than me. Why does everyone think you're such a little miss goody-two-shoes? Sabrina, did you hear the way she talked to me? With such sarcasm! And she calls herself an angel.
I AM an angel you, you, you....devil! The angel sputtered.
Oh ouch. What a comeback. My feelings are hurt.
You don't have feelings!
"That's enough guys. You are both having a time out. Starting now." Finally, silence. Well.....almost. The devil was grumbling, and the angel was trying her best to ignore him.
I shook my head, and turned around, making my way back down the beach. I was on a mission to locate the equine that had whinnied. I came to a stop, and looked out at the vast ocean. With careful eyes, I scanned the waters. Finally they befell an equine. I assumed she was the one that had whinnied, for I didn't see any other horse.
I may not have seen another horse, but I soon heard one. I had just been about to trot closer to the ivory mare, when another sound met my harks. Whoever had made it, didn't sound very relaxed. It held a note of worry. I briefly wondered if there was some dangerous predator nearby, but I dismissed the thought. I swung around in a half circle, facing away from the water's edge. This time, my eyes found their way to an ebony stallion. With...chains above his hooves? What on earth...? My face was surprised. My eyes showed of curiosity. They locked on the stallion for a few moments. Then I blinked, and neighed softly to him, but didn't speak any words.

Arabella Of course I had heard my brother bellowing, I had merely dismissed it. Likely just him wanting to scold me yet again. The water had erased all evidence of hardship away from my bodice, and I stepped into the sand with a smug contentment. Surprise flickered through my mind as my dark orbs settled on another mare upon the beach. I hadn't heard her approach, and she stood almost between Xenon and myself. A soft neigh escaped her maw and I stood still.Maybe this was what he was bellowing about. She definitively did not appear a threat. So I stood there, water dripping from my pearly hide.
Xenon I stood, froze in place. Suddenly I snapped out of it the more logical aspect of my mind kicking in. Xenon you fool, 'tis a mare! My harks swiveled around as her neigh met them. She seemed friendly enough, though the idea of having her between me and all I had left in this world was still unsettling. Nostrils flaring, I took a few tentative steps and stopped. The soft clinking of the chains was foreign, and I silently damned humanities strange ways. The chains around my daggers had once been hobbles, though the padding had long since rotted away. Each step was a little more painful than the last. I trotted towards the sea, and my sibling giving the unknown mare a large berth, though my orbs were ever weary. I snorted unhappily, as the salt seeped into my wounds. It was painful, yet necessary if I wanted to keep them from becoming infected. And, on a better note the water hid the chains from immediate view. I stood near Bells, and simply watched in awe for a few moments before mustering the courage to speak. "Ello there"

Sabrina's Enchantment
I watched the mare and especially the stallion with growing interest. The stallion seemed so....Well I'm not quite sure how to describe his mannerism. He acted flighty, and less than happy. And why on earth did he have those chains locked around his ankles? It is not at all normal to see horses roaming about with such things on. How had they gotten on his ankles in the first place? Surely they didn't walk up and attach themselves.
He must have gotten into some sort of trouble with the outside world..Maybe with Humans. I bet he is a horrible, devious, psyc-- I thought I put you in time-out. I said, but the devil ignored me.
Knock it off Devil. Sabrina, honey. Make sure you don't judge prematurely. We cannot judge his character until we have the facts.
The facts?! What more evidence do we need!
Take a good look at him. Does he seem mean to you? Hmm?
Well...it's hard to say. He's probably just hiding until the perfect moment..then he'll sneak up behind you Sabrina, silently, stealthily. He'll eye you, for you are his prey. And then, He'll--" I gasped. Out loud. I hadn't meant to, and in fact, I didn't even realize I had. When us three are talking, I don't pay any attention to what's really happening W-what will he do?
I'll tell you if you guys will stop interrupting me!!! The devil almost shouted, with anger.
Devil! Stop scaring poor Sabrina. He won't do anything bad, Dear. I'm sure if you spent the time to get to know him, he'll turn out to be a very nice young stallion. And besides, look at that pretty mare. Doesn't he seem attached to her? I'm sure a stallion that is enjoying the company of a mare like that, is on the up-and-up. Now, why don't you try to socialize with them. The angel said encouragingly. I was about to say something to them, but the ebony stallion beat me to it. Ello there.
"Hi....My name is... Sabrina" I said, and turned my head to look at the stallion and mare in turn. I nodded slightly, with my best attempt to be friendly. It was a little easier now, since the stallion had moved into the water. The water hid the chains, so I wouldn't be tempted to stare at them. For that would be rude.
Just you wait! You'll see. I was right, and you were wrong.
No YOU are wrong and WE are right. And shh!
Don't shh me!
I'll shh you if I want to shh you. Now shh! The devil started to make some wise-crack retort, but I interrupted him. You guys sound like a bunch of snakes hissing. Now will you both please keep your mouths shut? Thank you. I rolled my eyes. As annoying as they can be, I must admit I am glad I have them. At least I'm never alone.

I wasn't really sure what the mare was gawking about, but she did seem nice. I just had one of those bubbly, sing song auras about me as I started to babble quite happily. Maybe this other mare would be our friend. Maybe she could help us learn. Be our teacher. "Hi there! Its nice to meet you! Sabrina, such a pretty name. My name is Arabella, but everyone just calls me Bells. I took a breath in between and gestured towards the stallion with a toss of my head before continueing. "And that..is Xenon. Hes my older brother. Don't mind him, hes just shy and kind of scared of strangers." I was quite content to babble on and and on to anyone and everyone who would listen to me. "Its so... I glared menacingly as Xenon cut me off in mid sentence. "Way to rain on my parade...." I mumbled under my breath.
This new mare seemed to almost be having a complete conversation within her own mind from the looks of her frequent expression changes. In all honesty, it made me slightly weary. Was she insane? Could she cause us harm? Embarrassment shot through me as I heard Bells start to ramble on about me. I ducked my noble crown down like a shy colt, avoiding eye contact. When she started in about the weather I nipped her flank gently and took over the conversation. She meant well, she always did but unless there was someone around to take care of her she was completely helpless. Sometimes, that mare made me miss being alone. "Ahem. Not scared...just..careful. Its a pleasure to meet you, Sabrina. We aren't really from around here." I think THAT was obvious the moment you had a panic attack upon her approach. The icy water lapped at my legs, and I was beginning to get cold. A shudder racked my heavy frame, I couldn't step out of the water.

Sabrina's Enchantment The creamy white mare seemed to come alive, chattering away like old pals. I really admire that in a person, to be naturally friendly.
Hi there! Its nice to meet you! Sabrina, such a pretty name. My name is Arabella, but everyone just calls me Bells. She paused for a moment, and I started to open my mouth, but before any sound could come out, Bells continued on. I couldn't help but glance at the dark pelted stallion, from time to time, as she spoke.
And that..is Xenon. Hes my older brother. Don't mind him, hes just shy and kind of scared of strangers. I tried to suppress a giggle, and actually succeeded for once. But I couldn't resist an amused smile. I felt bad for Xenon, I assumed that he must be a little embarrassed by that statement Bells made. Stallions never appreciate anything that contradicts to their Masculine Domination. I was rather enjoying myself, just listening to Arabella talk. It's so refreshing to hear voices other that the ones in my head for a change.Well I like that! The devil folded folded his arms and started to pout.Oh Devil, don't feel bad. Sabrina didn't mean any offence, I'm sure. You can't blame her for enjoying the company of other horses.Speak for yourself! I can blame anyone I want to blame, for anything. We've stuck with her through thick and thin. I'm telling you Angel, Sabrina doesn't appreciate us. We should just pack our bags and go find someone who won't take us for granted.Oh I didn't mean it that way, I'm sorry. Honest, I do appreciate you guys. It's just that...sometimes I like to talk to someone that I have more in common with...Someone of the same species. We understand dear. Go on and talk to your new friends.Angel smiled at me, and started murmuring to Devil.
I shook my head, and tuned back into the words of the Mare. She had just started to say something when her brother interrupted her.
Ahem. Not scared...just..careful. Its a pleasure to meet you, Sabrina. We aren't really from around here."Being careful is very wise. It's lovely to meet you Bells, and Xenon....I don't mean to pry or anything, but....seeing as you two are not from around here....maybe you would consider staying with me....just for the night?"Nooo! You're inviting trouble in with open arms! There horses are not trouble, they are very pleasant people.Well, in any case, it's official. What is official? The Angel asked, tilting her head, a bit confused. We've been replaced. That mare Bells. She's taking your place. Well, that is an improvement. She'll be a better Angel than you ever were. But that Xenon! Ha! He wouldn't make half as good as a Devil as I do!!Well I never! We're not being replaced. Right Sabrina?Right. And besides. Devil, I thought you said he was trouble? And a physco, with terrible intenions. If that's the case, then he would make a better Devil than you. But now you're telling us that he wouldn't make the cut as a Devil. Which is it?Considering my job is at stake...I'll go with his being a wonderful person. That's betterNow that another emotional crisis is adverted, could you two please be quiet for a little while? You don't want me to reconsider replacing you...that Xenon is very Hansom, Devil...I might just change my m--We'll shut up!!I smiled to myself. I now know how to keep them quiet! I wonder why I didn't think of it before? Once more, I tossed my head, and looked at the horses equines and smiled. I really hoped that we would become friends. A person can never have too many friends. I was anxiously awaiting their response to my proposal. Words: Almost 600 Muse: Wonderful. Notes:

Arabella If it was possible I perked up even further with Sabrinas suggestion. "Being careful is very wise. It's lovely to meet you Bells, and Xenon....I don't mean to pry or anything, but....seeing as you two are not from around here....maybe you would consider staying with me....just for the night? "We'd love to!! Well we were tame horses, we lived in a stable and stuff. I didn't listen like Xenon and the humans wanted to get rid of me but Xenon and I decided to leave before then. It cost him, though..." For the first time I trailed off mid sentence, my bubbly personality clouding over for a moment as I looked back at my brother. What would happen if we could never get the chains off?
Xenon As usual before I could even think through the offer Bells had already spoken. No use to try and get out of the offer now, it'd be rude. Horror filled me as she started talking about our past. It was a private, and touchy subject that I didn't feel comfortable telling with the world. "Bells, stop." I hadn't meant to sound so snippy and angry, but truth be told I was. I didn't want the others to mistake our past for weakness. I wanted to be able to take care of Bells. My voice was quiet and defeated as I addressed Sabrina. "Thank you miss." Slowly I mustered the courage to plod out of the frigid water and onto dry sand. I about tripped given how numb my legs were. I simply looked down the beach, too embarrassed to meet the others gazes.
